The KC cross country teams traveled to the 9th annual UIS Prairie Stars Invite in Springfield with 13 colleges racing in the event. KC was one of three community colleges in the race. The host University of Illinois Springfield won both the men and women’s races. KC Blue Angels finished a solid 10th in the 5k race. The girls were led by Patoka High standout freshman Kyndall Sturgeon. Next in line were Breese Mater Dei’s Ryann Becker and Centralia’s Raelyn Daering. Salem’s Ivy Donoho was the 4th counter with Nashville’s Aubrey Fernandez the 5th and final counter for KC.
The Devils were 8th as a team over the 7k distance. They were led by freshman Andrew Lantham of Mascoutah closing in the distance in 24 minutes and some change. Jonathan Holthaus, the former Mater Dei Knight was next to cross the line followed by Freeburg’s Jack Walters, Salem’s Branson Pappas. The fifth counter was Jack Shelton, also from Mater Dei.
