The Salem cross country teams competed at Granite City Saturday in one of the toughest meets of the year, both teams had some outstanding performances.
In the boys race which had 205 runners competing Robby Shober led the cats placing 56thin a time of 16:16 followed by Caiden Beer 68th with a time of 16:32 and Hunter Malan right behind in 69th in a time of 16:33.
The top finishers for the Ladycats were Kendall Zimmerman and Maci Thorsen. Kendall coming in 40th in a time of 20:11 and Maci taking 46th in a time of 20:22, there was 160 girls in the varsity contest.
The Cats travel south Tuesday to compete in the Herrin Invitational.
