The Marion County Health Department is reporting 67 new cases of COVID-19, but no additional deaths on Tuesday.

There were 106 additional deaths around the state, including a male in his 70s in Clay County, a male in his 70s and a female in her 90s in Jefferson County, and a female in her 90s in Washington County.

Of the 67 new cases in Marion County, 5 are long term care residents and seven are students who were not at school during their infectious periods.  44 of the cases are listed as community spread and 23 are household or close contacts.

There are now 353 active cases in Marion County, including 25 in the hospital and five who are on ventilators.   There were 131 who were listed as recovered on Tuesday, bringing the total number recovered to 2,653.

The Clinton County Health Department reported 29 new cases on Tuesday.  There are now 368 on home isolation and 11 who are hospitalized.

The Jefferson County Health Department is reporting 30 new positive cases and 213 who are currently in isolation.

The Fayette County Health Department is reporting 35 new positive cases, including four from a congregate-care facility.

There were 5,644 new cases statewide.  The positivity rate for the past seven days has increased to 7.4-percent.   The Southern Illinois Region positivity rate for the week ending December 26th is 11.7-percent.  The Marion County rate is 9.9-percent.   The Metro-East Region is 12.1-percent.   The East Central Illinois Region is at 6.1-percent.
