Virginia O’Dell, age 97 of Odin, passed away on Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at Centralia Manor in Centralia.
Virginia was born on June 15, 1923, in Iuka, IL, the daughter of Louie and Lillie (Becker) Fisher. She married Lawrence O’Dell on November 11, 1945, and he preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Sharon O’Dell and companion John Pilkington of Summersville, MO; son, Larry O’Dell and wife Gwen of Effingham; two grandsons, Barry O’Dell of Fort Worth, TX and Brad O’Dell of Bollingbrook, IL; eight great-grandchildren, Tristin Esker, Colby, Carrie, Ryan, Cole, Erin, Cory, and Molly O’Dell.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; fiancé, Bob Becker; and a brother Hershel Fisher and his wife Carol.
Virginia was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church, the Daffodil Garden Club, and the Happy Hearts Quilting Guild. She worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She loved flowers, gardening, and quilting.
Graveside services for Virginia O’Dell will be held on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at 1:30 p.m. at the Iuka Trinity Lutheran Cemetery with Pastor Mike Feldman officiating. There will be a visitation on Saturday at Crouse Funeral Home in Salem from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Salem Lutheran Church, the Iuka Trinity Lutheran Church, or the donor’s choice and can be left at the funeral home.
