The Salem HS wrestling program is still in its infancy, however it took another big step forward over the weekend with 7 of their athletes competing at the Midwest Nationals at Illinois Wesleyan this weekend.
Salem standout Keyton King had a great weekend in a brutally tough bracket with several state qualifiers from a year ago. After dropping his first match 5-4, King battled back with 4 straight wins, including avenging his opening round loss (7-1) and making it all the way back to the 3rd place match. He finished 4-2 on the day and 4th overall.
Rylan Moore also made the podium finishing 5th in his first ever Midwest Nationals. Its a HUGE deal to make the podium with so many outstanding wrestlers. In total, over 1400 wrestlers from 20 different states competed.
Other wrestlers from Salem who competed include Carson Osborn, Caleb Osborn, Aiden Doolen, Kevan Moore, and Carter Moore. All but one Salem wrestler recorded wins on the day!
