The Salem Lady Wildcats summer softball team improved to 5-1 on the season at the West Frankfort Summer League.
Salem lost their first game of the summer in the opener 12-7 to Woodlawn. Mya Russell had 2 hits and drove in 2 runs; Marah Johnson had a hit and drove in 4 runs. Katee Sellers and Talya Gowler also singled. Sellers made her varsity debut striking out 2 over 1.2.
Salem won the 2nd game over Galatia 7-6. Alli Thurman struck out 5 in the win. Bria Murray, Emma Lipe, Emily Jones and Kendall Zimmermann all had hits with Murray and Thurman driving in 2 each. Murray’s put Salem ahead.
