Salem high school sophomore Caroline Foltz competed this weekend near Kansas City at USA / Speedo 18&under Winter Championships. This meet is usually held in one city but due to covid it was held in a decentralized format. Multiple cities across the country will compile their results after 2 weekends of competition.
Foltz qualified and competed in 5 events over the course of the weekend dropping time in all 5 for personal best times. In the 100 breast she dropped 2.89 seconds earning the 4th fastest time of 1:03.50. In the 200 breaststroke she dropped 4 seconds for a time of 2:17.76 and a 5th place finish. That time also earned her a spot as a 2021 All American Scholar and a Junior National qualifier.
Regions posting results from the weekend include Massachusetts, Potomac Valley, North Carolina, Florida and Louisiana. Foltz currently sits at #15 for the 100 Breastroke. No spectators were allowed but they live streamed it via YouTube. She said it felt so good to compete again. She hadn’t had a championship meet in over a year due to COVID.
