Patsy “Pat” Florene (Chandler) Phillips, 84, of Mount Vernon, Illinois, passed away at 11:40 pm December 2, 2020 at her residence. Pat worked as a clerk for the Mount Vernon Rescue Mission and also ran a daycare for many years. She retired as a manager from Maurices Department Store. She was of longtime member of Central Christian Church and later attended Sugar Camp Baptist Church with her daughter. Pat was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She will be dearly missed.
A Visitation will be held Sunday, December 6, 2020 from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm at Pleasant Grove Cemetery in Mount Vernon. A Graveside Service will begin at 1:00 pm with Mr. J. Howard Kraps officiating. Interment will follow. Memorials may be made in Pat’s honor to Central Christian Church. Please remember to observe social distancing at this time. We are limited to 10 people under the tent at a time. Following the CDC and NFDA regulations, we encourage everyone to wear a mask. They will be made available, upon request. Pat is survived by her children, John Maxey Phillips, Jr. and wife, Teresa of Woodlawn, Illinois, Jackie Phillips and wife, Debra of Mount Vernon, Randy Phillips of Mount Vernon, and Patti Cook and husband, John of Belle Rive, Illinois; grandchildren, Josh, Randy, Levi, Brandon, Matthew, and Rhian; seventeen great-grandchildren; brother, Gary Chandler and wife, Glenda of Royce City, Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
She was born September 11, 1936 in Wichita Falls, Texas to the late Frank and Beatrice (Garrett) Chandler. Pat married Reverend John “Bo” Phillips on September 19, 1952 in Wichita Falls. They were blessed with nearly 63 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on July 1, 2015.
