The Salem Grade School Board handled a number of personnel issues at Thursday night’s meeting.

The board hired Kristen Parrett as a 6th-grade science teacher at Franklin Park for the next school year.

Part-time custodian David Villalobos was elevated to full-time night custodian following a recent resignation.

The board handled five extra-curricular resignations. They are:

Dustin Husk- Assistant Boys Basketball
Danette Wolfe – Varsity Girls Basketball
Tosha Lusch – Assistant Girls Cross Country
Katie Allen – Head Girls Track
Cory Harris – Assistant Girls Track and Assistant Volleyball

The board placed five teachers on tenure. They are Erica Nix, Elyse Caplinger, Denise McCormack, Tosha Lusch, and Heather Kleiboeker.
Twenty-three non-tenured teachers were rehired for the coming school year. They are Cheryl Ice, Elizabeth Smith, Danette Wolfe, Stephanie Clark, Nicole Rexilius, Laura Phillips, Allison Harper, Rachel Willams, Andrew Steininger, Annie Tucker, Ricky Huge, Mildred Cowger, Amanda Litteken, Morgan Follett, Chelsea Schnautz, Brian Husk, Laura Meier, John Smith, Megan Ryce, Paige Saupe, McKenna Barnfield, Katie Steffen, and Josye Jansen.

Superintendent Dr. Leslie Foppe says unlike past years no paraprofessionals will have to be dismissed. She reports they already know there are enough students to require all those who wish to return next school year.
