The Centralia BPW has named its Woman and Boss of the Year.
The Woman of the Year is Sandy Mecum. The Boss of the Year is Diane Cole. Both were surprised with the honors at the Woman and Boss of the Year reception hosted by Heritage Woods.
Mecum worked at the Centralia City Schools for three decades as an aide in numerous other positions. It was noted if a child needed something, she would figure out a way to provide it, even if it came out of her own pocket. She also volunteers with numerous groups such as the Central City Lioness Club, Lady Elks, St. Mary’s Hospital and the Calumet Street Christian Church. Mecum has spent countless hours providing Christmas presents for families, clothing for children, and simply offering a hug or word of encouragement to a child.
Diane Cole is a lending officer and branch manager at the Bradford National Bank. Her nomination noted she has spent her livelihood investing in her company and their staff and recognizes the potential of everyone she meets. Cole is also an active member of the Centralia Chamber of Commerce, is very involved with Balloon Fest, and is seen in the community supporting nonprofits or sponsoring kids sports teams. The nomination says quite literally the definition of if there is a will, there is a way.
The naming of the Woman and Boss of the Year is part of the annual Centralia Business and Professional Woman’s Club week.

Diane Cole was named Centralia BPW Boss of the Year.
