Franklin Park hosted the regional cross country meet yesterday with the top 2 teams and advancing to next Friday’s state meet held in DuQuoin.
The Franklin Park Bobcats dominated the field as the boys qualified 1st winning the regionals with a near perfect 17 points. Olney was 2nd and also qualified. All 7 Bobcats medaled finishing in the top 10. Eli Baker, Caidien Beer, Cole Casburn and Hunter Malan finished 1-2-3-4, Robbie Shober and Caleb Purintun was 6-7 with sixth grader Payton Gullion finishing 10th.
The Lady Bobcats also advanced to state with a 2nd place finish as Olney won with 37 and Salem finished with 40. Top finishers and medalists for Salem were Kendall Zimmermann 3rd, Aila Laird 4th and Ella Robinson was 6th.
