A 28-year-old Salem man already serving 42 years in prison for predatory criminal sexual assault had another 12 years added when pleading guilty in Marion County Court to two additional counts.
The new sentence gives Devon Q. Gibbs a total of 54 years in prison.
Gibbs was sentenced Tuesday to six years in prison on each of the predatory criminal sexual assault charges to a victim under the age of 13 by Judge Mark Stedelin. He ordered the two sentences to be served consecutively to each other as well as the original four predatory criminal sexual assault charges he received the 42-year prison term. Each of the charges Gibbs pleaded guilty to involved separate victims. A third person was the victim of the original four predatory criminal sexual assault charges.
Gibbs had been found guilty of the original four charges by a Marion County Jury.
As part of the plea, four other counts of predatory criminal sexual assault were dropped along with home invasion and aggravated battery with a deadly weapon charges that were pending from a 2020 home invasion.
