Tuition rates for most courses at Kaskaskia College will stay the same next school year following action taken Monday night by the college’s board of trustees.
The board approved a motion to keep tuition at $160 per credit hour for in-district students, $259 per credit hour for out-of-district students, and $419 per credit hour for out-of-state and international students for the 2024-2025 academic year. Those totals include $24 in mandatory fees per credit hour.
College President George Evans says tuition has remained mostly level for the past several years because the school has been responsible with its finances.
“We want to operate within our means, and we have no intention of putting any additional costs on our students that are unwarranted. So taking the fact that we have only adjusted tuition, really, substantially one time in the last six years, and that was $3 four years ago, is a testimony to us living within our means, but also our commitment to our students and the fiduciary duty we have to making sure that they can get through college in a very affordable and efficient manner.”
The board of trustees did approve a recommended $10 increase in the online tuition rate for out-of-district, out-of-state and international students, from $160 to $170 per credit hour.
In other action, the board approved a bid of $122,870 from D7 Roofing of New Baden for replacement of the Jane Knight Auditorium roof, which had been previously damaged in a storm, and approved the purchase of security software from Insight for $34,549.
