Willow Grove/St Mary’s Centralia will play for the Class S softball state title after their 11-8 win over New Hope at the Perry County Fairgrounds in Pinckneyville. Emrie Quick led the Wildcards going 5-5 at the plate with a double, home run and scored 4 runs. Olivia Neudecker added 2 hits including a triple and 3 runs. Kylie Nalewajka had 2 hits with a triple and RBI, Maddy Francois 3 hits and 2 doubles with 2 RBI. Mackenzie Perez added a hit with a run and Remi McDonald had 2 RBI. Francois got the win going 7 innings with 7 strikeouts. The Wildcards will play for the Class S state title tomorrow at 11 a.m. against Coulterville after their 12-2 win over Dongola.
In Class L, Murphsyboro beat Carlyle 8-5 and Carterville nipped Carmi 4-3. Carlyle will play in the 3rd place game against Carmi tomorrow at 10am.
In Class M, NCOE beat Nashville 5-4in 8 innings and Pinckneyville beat Crab Orchard 7-1. Their state title game is at 3pm with the 3rd place game at 1.
