IHSA State Individual Wrestling Finishes Up Over The Weekend In Champaign

The IHSA Wrestling Individual finals were held at the State Farm Center this weekend.

Benton’s Mason Tieffel won his back-to-back state title at 138 pounds in Class A finishing the year a perfect 55-0.  In doing so he took down Vandalia phenom sophomore Dillon Hinton who finished his 2nd year at 46-4 with 3 losses to Tieffel this year.

Carlyle’s Preston Waughtel finished off a perfect season at 113 pounds winning the title.  Herrin’s Blue Bishop was 2nd at 150 pounds.  Waughtel’s brother Tyson lost his only match of the season, in sudden-victory at 120 pounds.

Vandalia’s Max Philpot was 2nd at 106 pounds and Kaden Tidwell lost in his 3rd place match.

Roxana’s James Herrin was 3rd at 285 pounds.  Roxana’s Brandon Green Jr. was 3rd at 132 pounds.

In 2a, Mount Vernon’s Dillon White was 2nd at 138 pounds.
