The Salem Wildcats fell at home on Senior Night to Roxana by a final score of 47-44. The Wildcats shot 16 less shots in the game than the Shells. Salem had a couple of chances in the games final minute to tie or take the lead, but their final attempt at a half court pass with less than 2 seconds left was intercepted by Aidan Briggs to finish off the Wildcats regular season at 10-22.
The Wildcats were led by Senior Gavin Zimmermann who finished with 3 more made 3’s and 14 points to lead Salem. The Senior has now hit 92 three pointers on the season. Which is a school record. Sam Greene had 8 points. Also scoring was Jairen Stroud, the senior injured his knee in the first practice of the season and has missed all year. He started on senior night and in a show of respect and kindness was allowed to score a bucket to start the game. Briggs finished with 14 to lead the Shells and Sean Maberry added 12.
Salem is off until Monday when they travel to Carbondale to open up 3a regional play on WJBD.
Tonight the Centralia Orphans head to old conference rival Althoff preparing for their post season that will begin next week in Marion. Centralia clinched the outright South 7 title with a win at Carbondale 49-24.
Last night, Patoka fell to Webber 69-55, in the loss Patoka senior Owen Landreth passed uncle Jeremy Landreth on the All Time scoring list with his 1,419 points.
South Central beat OPH 34-31 behind 12 from Max Magnus and 9 out of Westin Neilson.
