The Class L Junior High State boys basketball tournament will get underway today with quarterfinal games. At 9:30, Marion opens with Casey Mount Vernon, Trico plays Mt Carmel at 10:45, followed by Belleville West and Centralia at 12 and Carbondale plays Whiteside Middle School at 1:15.
The night will finish up with the Class S trophy games. At 4pm, the Central City Citians will try to finish the season with the state title when they play Our Lady of Mount Carmel on WJBD. Craig Holmes will have the call. That game will follow the 3rd place game with St Peter And Paul playing St Mary Alton at 2:30.
Yesterday, Joseph Arthur Middle School won the Class M state title beating Nashville 48-35. Aviston was 3rd over Gallatin County 43-32.
