A 47-year-old Carbondale man has been sentenced to 50 years in prison for the first-degree murder of his daughter.

Isaac Hill was found guilty of the charge following a bench trial in Jackson County Court in August.  Judge Steven Bost handed down the sentence on Friday.

Illinois State Police DCI says they were requested by Carbondale Police to assist in the investigation when they were first notified of a 3-year-old female being brought to a local hospital by her father on June 22, 2022.  Hill’s daughter was later pronounced deceased.

After a thorough investigation and collaborative effort by ISP investigators, Carbondale Police, DCFS, Jackson County Coroner’s Office, and the Jackson County State’s Attorney’s Office resulted in the arrest of Hill.

The Illinois State’s Attorney Appellate Prosecutors Office handled the prosecution of the case.
