The Salem City Council has called a special meeting for six Monday night to discuss the resignation of City Manager Rex Barbee last week and to appoint an interim city manager.
Mayor Nic Farley indicated the city council would take as long as necessary to find a new city manager who fit the city so the interim city manager could have the position for some time. He also indicated the city council would work on a severance package for Barbee.
The meeting will start in closed session, with an announcement and vote on decisions made to follow.
