Tedeschi’s Monster Game Helps Benton To Finals….Area Mid-Winter Tournament Results/Schedule

Benton:  There are good nights on the basketball court, and then there are nights like Benton standout Docker Tedeschi had last night at the Benton Invitational.  He set a new single game record at the BIT making 9 three pointers in the Rangers 78-49 win over Meridian.  The 6-7 standout finished with 33 points, 10 rebounds, 6 blocked shots, 5 assists and a steal.  The Rangers will play at 7:30 against Pinckneyville in a rematch of the title game at the Duster Thomas, a game Benton would win.  The Panthers advanced with a 67-66 win over Herrin.  Meridian and Herrin will play for 3rd with Sesser and Hamilton County in the 7th place game and Vandalia and Carterville play for the consolation title.

MTC:  The day begins in the Midland Trail Conference tournament at 3pm with the consolation title game between Cisne and Wayne City.  Then the 3rd place game at 4:30 with Woodlawn and Grayville before the 7pm championship featuring the top two seeds Waltonville taking on Webber.

Nashville:  The Breese Central Cougars will play for the Nashville Invitational Title tonight at 8pm when they take on Kipp Academy.  The Cougars advanced with a 45-32 win over Marion also night while Kipp knocked off Mater Dei 44-40.  Marion and Mater Dei will play for 3rd at 6:30, Mascoutah and Nashville are in the consolation title game with Metro East Lutheran and Gateway Legacy opening the day in the 7th place game.

Okawville:  It will be a Columbia versus Highland championship at the Okawville Tournament tonight at 7:30 after wins last night.  Columbia nipped Wesclin 46-42 and Highland beat Carlyle 61-29.  The 3rd place game is at 6pm with the day beginning with the 7th place game of Okawville and Madison followed by Christ Our Rock and Gibault for the consolation title at 4:30.

Arrowhead:  At Johnston City today, Eldorado takes on Christopher and Anna battles the hosts.

Litchfield:  The Litchfield Tournament finishes up today with the title game of Triad and Civic Memorial.  The day will begin with Father McGivney and Pana in the 11th place game at 11 then the 9th place game with Tayloville and Hillsboro followed by the 7th place game Nokomis and Litchfield, Greenville plays Roxana at 4pm for 5th followed by the 3rd place game of Mattoon and Marquette.

Superman:  In Metropolis at the Superman Classic Vienna and Massac County play for the title and Goreville will play Charleston.

Carmi:  At Carmi, Mt Vernon, Indiana opens the day with Evansville Day School at 10:30 then Carmi and Fairfield at 12.  The night session begins at 4pm with Fairfield and Harrisburg followed by Carmi and Mt Vernon, Indiana.

Sparta:  The Sparta tournament finishes today.  Freeburg and Murphsyboro play for the title at 5:30 with Waterloo and Steeleville playing at 2:30 for 5th and the 3rd place game between Sparta and Red Bud.  Last night, Freeburg needed overtime to beat Red Bud 58-56, Murphysboro beat Sparta 45-42 and Waterloo over Trico 64-39.
