A big drug bust on I-64 in Jefferson County.

Illinois State Police say 48-year-old Mikhail Subbotin of Lawrenceville, Georgia has been arrested for possession of more than 5,000 grams of cannabis, cannabis trafficking, and possession with intent to deliver cannabis.

Subbotin was stopped late Wednesday morning by a trooper patrolling I-64 near milepost 71 when he observed a vehicle driving above the posted speed limit and made a traffic stop.  Due to the smell of cannabis, the trooper received permission to search and allegedly found several boxes filled with suspected cannabis.    The total weight was over 400 pounds.

The Southern Illinois Drug Task Force assisted in the case.
