State Representative Blaine Wilhour will remain on the March primary election ballot after the State Board of Elections overruled a challenge to his nominating petitions.
While Wilhour had filed a Statement of Economic Interest with the State Board of Elections, he failed to file a copy with the Illinois Secretary of State. The board followed the recommendation of its hearing officer to overrule the objection.
Wilhour is being challenged in the 110th District by Matthew Hall of Vandalia.
Another area representative was removed from the March primary election ballot, at least for now. State Representative Adam Niemerg failed to get his statement of candidacy notarized. His options for getting back on the ballot include seeking the endorsements of the Republican chairmen in the counties in the 102nd House District and obtaining at least 500 new signatures. Niemerg had been running unopposed.
The State Board of Elections has yet to rule on an objection to keep former President Donald Trump off the ballot.
