Salem Police have released details on a two vehicle rear-end crash on South Broadway at Lake Street in Salem that sent one person to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.
Police report 59-year-old Victor Allen of Iuka Road in Iuka was traveling north bound on South Broadway. He had slowed to nearly a stop in traffic when he was hit in the rear by 29-year-old Derricka Witzel of West South Street in Dix. Witzel told police she had looked down and didn’t see the vehicle in front of her slow.
Witzel was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment of injuries. Allen escaped injury.
Witzel was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
The crash occurred at 2:16 Thursday afternoon.
