The Salem Cheerleaders were probably a little unsure of how the entire ICCA State Competition would go.  The program qualified for its first ever state competition with a runner up finish at Pinckneyville in late 2023.

If they were unsure of what to expect, it didn’t show on the mat as they wowed the large audience and when it was all said and done, Salem finished 4th out of 20 teams to bring home the programs first ever state medals.

Coach Torin Wright, in his first year as head coach, said Saturday “the team had the highest score they’ve achieved all season.  He added that he is proud of this team and the community for stepping up.  They made dreams come true and I still can’t fathom what happened today (Saturday) a flawless routine and one emotional coach.”

You can watch the Salem cheerleaders do their thing Friday night when the Wildcats host the State’s top ranked Breese Central Cougars at B.E. Gum.
