A 21-year-old Alma man has been arrested on drug delivery charges some of which took place while he was employed at a Salem business.

Hayden Harper of Public Highway was arrested at his home Tuesday by Marion County Sheriff’s Deputies on the warrant charging two counts of unlawful delivery of a controlled substance and two counts of unlawful delivery of cannabis.

The investigation was coordinated by the Southeastern Illinois Drug Task Force which says some of the illicit narcotics sales took place while Harper was employed at a former tobacco and vape shop in Salem.

The Task Force reports the investigation is ongoing and no further information will be released at the present time.

Over several months, the task force has conducted a narcotics investigation that resulted in the illicit sale of controlled substances.  The task force is comprised of the Salem Police Department, the Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, the Robinson Police Department, the Mt. Carmel Police Department and Illinois State Police.  This investigation was a cooperative effort amongst the area police departments in an effort to curb drug usage and violence in the area.
