A 21-year-old Centralia man has been booked into the Marion County Jail for reckless discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon in connection with an early Monday morning shooting at a Salem home.
Diego Barradas of South Brookside was arrested by Salem Police following a traffic stop after they had earlier been called to a home at 1336 North Trenary where a shooting victim was found.
The juvenile girl was treated on the scene by emergency medical service personnel before being transported to Salem Township Hospital and later airlifted to a St. Louis Hospital for treatment.
Salem Police Chief Kyle Ambuehl says the juvenile sustained a gunshot wound to the abdomen.
The chief reports the initial 911 call from the residence at 3:03 Monday morning was for an unknown type of problem. Barradas had left before their arrival.
Ambuehl says the investigation is ongoing and he anticipates more information will be released later.
