The Breese Central Cougars captured their first Mater Dei Christmas title since 2016, knocking off Alabama’s 2nd ranked team Red Bay in the title game 51-33. Colton Arnold led the 2nd ranked 2a Cougars with 14, Mason Shubert added 13 and Zane Schrage finished with 12.
The first team All Tournament included Central’s Schrage, Red Bay’s Lawson Glover, Wesclin’s Seth Macke, Nashville’s Maddox Ritzel and Mascoutah’s Miles Ntekop. On the 2nd Team was Central’s Colten Arnold, Red Bay’s Holden Inmon, Mascoutah’s Jayden McCoo, Central’s Mason Shubert and Mater Dei’s Drake Wagner.
Wesclin captured 3rd over Nashville 64-38. Mascoutah beat Mater Dei in the 5th place game 41-38. It was Orchard Farm beating Chicago Bowen for 7th place 79-55. McCluer knocked off Metro East Lutheran in the 9th place game 58-32. The day began with the 11th place game in which Riverview Gardens beat Kewanee Wethersfield 63-48.
