The Salem Wildcats fell to 2-8 on the season as they lost to short-handed Olney 48-29. The Cats once again struggled offensively scoring just 1 point in the first quarter against stifling Tigers defense. Olney was playing without their standout senior point guard Ian Winkler. The Wildcats will head back to Cahokia Conference play on Friday with a trip to Freeburg.
The Centralia Orphans won their battle of unbeatens, knocking off Breese Central at Trout Arena 43-23. Dustin Collins led the Orphans with 15 and Daryl Jones added 10.
Carlyle improved to 7-1 with a 54-41 win over 12th ranked Altamont. Matthew Guthrie had 12 points for Carlyle, Rhettick Steinkamp also had 12. Dillan Elam had a game high 14 for Altmaont. Carlyle has a showdown at Wesclin on Friday night.
