The IHSA state football finals began yesterday at Hancock Stadium in Normal and will conclude today. Yesterday, Camp Point Central pulled off an upset beat Lena Winslow in the 1a title game 14-0. Wilmington won the 2a title over Athens 28-3. Mt Carmel lost to Byron in the 3a finals 69-7 and Rochester won another 4a state title beating Burbank St Laurence 59-38.
Today begins with the 5a finals at 10am between Nazareth Academy and Joliet Catholic. At 1pm its East St Louis and Cary Grove for the 6a title. Then at 4pm for the 7a title it is Downers Grove North and Chicago Mt Carmel. The final game of the season is at 7pm with the 8a title game featuring Loyola Academy and Lincoln-Way East.
