The Salem Lady Wildcats fell to 4-1 on the season losing at Fairfield last night 38-29.  Rylee Edwards was a one-person wrecking ball as the senior finished with 29 points matching Salem’s team total.  Salem led 27-21 after three quarters but didn’t make a field goal in the final 8 minutes and were outscored 17-2 in that frame.  Salem was led by Kayla Felgenhaur with 12 and Emma Gregg finished with 10.  Salem will be off until Monday when they have their home opener against West Frankfort.

The Salem JV dropped their season opener in overtime 30-27.  Brylee Pennypacker gave Salem a 2-point lead with 8 seconds left in regulation with a pair of made free throws, but the Lady Mules would get away with an obvious over and back in front of 2 officials, she would eventually score to tie the game and the Lady Mules would pull it out in overtime.

The Centralia Annies are back in action tonight in regular season play when they travel to Marion.
