Salem Opens Volleyball Regionals Tonight Along With Several Area Schools

The prep volleyball post season began last night.

In 3a regional openers last night, Mount Vernon lost at home to Marion in 3-sets.

Tonight, the Salem Lady Wildcats will open up 3a volleyball regional play with a trip to Triad to take on the Lady Knights.  The game will be at 7pm following the first semifinal between Highland and Jerseyville.

Also tonight, Effingham hosts Charleston followed by Civic Memorial and Olney.  At Mount Vernon, Mascoutah plays Marion followed by Centralia and Herrin at 7pm.  At Waterloo, Carbondale plays Cahokia followed by Freeburg and Waterloo.

In 1a regional openers at Dupo, Marissa beat Okawville.  At Raymond Lincolnwood, Mulberry Grove beat Ramsey.  At St Elmo/Brownstown, Altamont beat the hosts in 3-sets.  At Wayne City, Woodlawn beat Webber.

Tonight at Dupo, Gibault takes on New Athens.  At Raymond Lincolnwood it’s Nokomis and Sandoval at 6pm followed by Christ Our Rock and Mt Olive at 7pm.  At St Elmo, St Anthony takes on Patoka at 6pm followed by South Central and CHBC at 7pm.  At Wayne City, Albion plays the hosts followed by Cisne and Grayville.

In 2a openers last night, DuQuoin was the site for Benton over Johnston City and Carterville beat West Frankfort.  At Lawrenceville, Cumberland beat the hosts and Newton over Marshall.  TTown beat Flora at H amilton County.  At Massac County, Anna held off Harrisburg and Vienna over Eldorado.  At Nashville, Carlyle beat Chester in 3-sets and Nashville over Sparta.  At Vandalia, Litchfield beat Greenville and Vandalia lost to Pana.

Tonight, Breese Central will open up at Althoff at 6pm followed by Althoff and Wesclin.  At DuQuoin, Pinckneyville takes on Benton followed by Carterville and the hosts.  At Lawrenceville, Carmi takes on Cumberland followed by Robinson and Newton.  At Hamilton County, it’s Fairfield and TTown followed by the hosts and Mt Carmel.  Massac County hosts Anna followed by Murphysboro and Vienna.  Nashville hosts Columbia.  At Vandalia, Hillsboro takes on Litchfield followed by Shelbyville and Pana.
