Salem’s Purcelli Is Class L State Champion

The SIJHSAA State Cross Country Meets were held on Saturday at the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds.

Salem’s Scout Puricelli is the Class L State Champion in a time of 10:21.4.  He beat Olney’s Tristin Butler by just under 3 seconds.  Casey Mt Vernon’s Liam Brandon was 6^th.  Centralia’s Trey Branch 16.

Marion is the team champ with Waterloo 2^nd and Olney 3^rd.  Centralia finished 6^th as a team.  James Strowder was 25, Lekendrick Bratton 28, Montez Lewis 41 and Myson Maines 51.  Salem was 7^th.  Jacob Cape 37, Nate Lowry7 39, Abram Jett 63 and Myles Donoho 65.

In Class L Girls, Salem’s Kendall Zimmermann was 8^th overall.  Waterloo won the team title with Carterville 2^nd and Murphysboro 3^rd.  Salem was 7^th.  Following Zimmermann, Charlotte Johnson was 32, Kinsley Gansauer 44, Nora Purcell 54 and Adelynn Bumgarner 55.
