The Salem Wildcats competed at the Centralia 2a golf regional yesterday with only Senior Jairen Stroud advancing as an individual to Mt Carmel for Sectional play on Monday following his 79 that was good for a 9th place tie. Columbia’s Jacob Hall and Breese Central’ Konnor Kueper shot 72s to win the regional.
Mascoutah was the team champion advancing with a 308. Also moving on was Columbia 311 and Breese Central 314. Salem finished 6th shooting 346 with Mount Vernon 9th at 361 and Centralia 10th shooting 378.
Also advancing as an individual with Stroud were Mount Vernon’s Xander Ashby and John Rincker.
Salem also got an 88 from senior Cale Harris. Junior Rhett Detering added 89, Freshman Landen Maxey 90, Junior Logan Lockhart 91 and Sophomore Kyler Sapp added 94.
