The Cedarhurst Center for the Arts in Mt. Vernon will host the 18th annual recognition of the Motorcycle as Art this Sunday in the Goldman-Kuenz Sculpture Park.

Museum officials say the ‘art’ sparkles and gleams and can fuel motorcycle enthusiasts with hours of conversation.

The King City Dirt Riders and its members will be recognized with a trophy for their active participation in the motorcycle culture of Southern Illinois.

‘Art by Dirt’ will be back as part of this year’s event.  Champaign artist James ‘Dirt’ Domer will showcase his creative art pieces from recycled American-made motorcycle parts.  Domer has created a unique sculpture that will be presented as the Best of Show trophy.

Motorcycle registration will be from nine to noon on Sunday.  Judging of the bikes with paid registration will run from noon until 2:45 pm with trophy presentations at three pm.  The show is open to all motorcycles with trophies given in many classes.  The entry fee for judging is $10 per bike.  There is no entry fee for motorcycles designated as ‘display only’.
