The Salem Wildcats and the rest of the Mississippi Division of the Cahokia Conference will open up league play tonight when they welcome East Alton Wood River to Jim Finks Field. Salem is 2-1 on the year coming off a road loss to a great Mt Zion squad last week. Wood River enters at 0-3 as they have struggled out of the gate coming off last week’s blowout loss to Alton Marquette. Also in the league tonight, 0-3 Columbia travels to 3-0 and 10th ranked Roxana while Freeburg is at Breese Central in a battle of 2-1 teams.
In the Illinois Division, Carlyle at Red Bud with both teams 1-2, Chester is 0-3 and will play at winless Sparta while undefeated Dupo plays at 2-1 Wesclin.
The Centralia Orphans game against Granite City has been canceled due to issues within the Granite City program so the Orphans will earn their first win of the season.
In other action tonight, Flora is at Eldorado, Olney hosts Marshall, Vandalia heads to Piasa Southwestern. Nashville hosts Anna, Mount Vernon is 1-2 and will host Collinsville, Mater Dei at home with Madison.
