A 17-year-old Vandalia resident has died in a single-vehicle crash on US 51 north of Vandalia on Sunday night.
Fayette County Coroner David Harris pronounced Olivia Blain deceased on the scene.
State Police say preliminary information indicates a car driven by the 17-year-old was southbound on US 51 when it drove off the roadway to the left, struck the end of a bridge, and came to rest on an embankment.
The crash occurred at 9:51 Sunday night.
Other agencies who helped at the scene were the Vandalia Fire Department, the Fayette County Sheriff’s Department, and the Illinois Department of Natural Resources.
