An 18-year-old Centralia man who pleaded guilty last week to aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with an April shooting at Laura Leake Park is back in the Marion County Jail on a new arrest for domestic battery.
With agreement from both prosecution and defense, Davion Meredith had been released by Judge Mark Stedelin on $50,000 personal recognizance bond after entering the plea until his sentencing hearing that is set for October 26th. The recognizance bond required electronic home confinement as well as a number of other conditions.
No other details are currently available on Meredith’s Thursday arrest.
In the park shooting case, Meredith was accused of firing a gun after a codefendant, 18-year-old Shavonte Samuels of Ashley, had allegedly shot and wounded Zykevious Burnett and Nyree Dugans. Both were treated at St. Louis hospitals but were released a short time later. Samuels currently had a hearing set for September 6th to modify his bond. He currently remains in custody in lieu of a $500,000 bond. Pending motions, including one to suppress evidence, is set for October 6th.
