A 24-year-old Salem man has been arrested on a Marion County misdemeanor failure to appear warrant in a pending violation of an order of protection case. Zacharia Hodge of Red Stripe Road was taken to the Marion County Jail in lieu of $5,000 bond.
42-year-old Brian Cushman of East Johnson Road in Dix was arrested by Jefferson County Sheriff’s Deputies on an outstanding Marion County traffic warrant. He was later transferred to the Marion County Jail where he is being held in lieu of $2,500 bond.
Salem Fire Protection District officials report no damage in a small grass fire that got out of hand on the Giles Mann property at 3210 Nation Road in rural Salem late Thursday afternoon. Mann was burning trash when the wind blew the fire into the grassy area. About a quarter acre burned. No structures were endangered. The call came in at 5:03 Thursday afternoon.
