Centralia Police say three people were shot early Monday evening in Laura Leake Park.
Centralia Police say upon arrival they began giving immediate first aid to one victim who was later transferred to SSM Health St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. A second victim had been transferred by private vehicle to St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. A third victim was identified but refused medical treatment. The names of the three are not being released and police are not saying if the victims are adults or juveniles.
Centralia Police contacted Illinois State Police Zone 8 Investigations and they are currently in charge of the investigation.
Centralia Fire and Lifestar were dispatched at the time of the call at 6:09 pm. They were later joined by the Marion, Clinton, and Washington County Sheriff’s Departments, along with the Central City, Wamac, and Salem Police Departments. Centralia Police are thanking all the departments for their assistance.
