A 90-year-old rural Patoka man has died as the result of injuries sustained in a tractor accident on Wednesday afternoon.
Fayette County Coroner Dave Harris pronounced Billy Edwards dead at the scene on his property off East 100th Avenue a mile south of the Boat Dock Road west of Patoka.
The coroner reports Edwards was apparently thrown off the tractor and was located under a rear wheel.
Patoka Fire Chief Blake Hyde says the person who found the victim believed he was already deceased at that time. Patoka firefighters were able to remove Edwards from underneath the wheel and confirmed his death. Hyde says the tractor had just been purchased a few days earlier.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Department also assisted at the scene.
The call came in at 3:54 Wednesday afternoon.
Harris indicated the death would be ruled accidental.
