Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith is now also the village’s president.

Smith won a three way race on Tuesday.  He finished with 85 votes.  Juanita Ricker-Pitts tallied 40 votes and Annette Schiro had eight votes.

Smith has a few goals.

“Basically, just to clean the town up. We have abandoned properties we can’t seem to find out who owns them.  I would like to focus on getting some of these abandoned structures torn down or at least hold the property owner accountable for it.”

And he’d like to see improvements to the park.

“We have never put lights on the softball diamond, we’ve never done any major imrovements to that diamond.  I would like to see if we can figure out funding or grants or something to improve both of the ball diamonds.”

Smith says he has a good council to work with and plans to sit down with them to discuss other future goals.

There was also a race for village trustee in Central City.  The winners were James Hill with 46 votes, Thomas Cagle with 40 and Jeffrey Thomas with 34.  Not winning seats were Gary Hall with 32 and Thomas ‘Todd’ Reeves with 22.  Neely Reed was unopposed to become the new village president of Central City.  He received 56 votes.

In Kinmundy, there was a race for third ward alderman.  Incumbent Gary Cooper beat challenger Stephen Wilkins 26 to 19 votes.

In Centralia, Mayor Bryan Kuder was unopposed for reelection.   He finished with 372 votes.  Two new council candidates also ran unopposed.  Isreal ‘Izzy’ Fontanez finished with 336 votes and Barri Allen with 298 votes.
