Salem Mayor Nic Farley has announced a cleanup plan for those who sustained damage in Friday night’s tornado.
He is asking residents to separate debris into three piles and place it at the curbside for pickup. One pile should be for wood and sticks, a second for metal objects, and a third for everything else.
Farley says the city will be developing a plan for pickup by the early part of the week.
He is now estimating at least 40 homes were damaged by the Friday night tornado. Farley reports a damage assessment is still underway and the final numbers of residences and businesses damaged or destroyed are not yet available.
