The Marion County Sheriff’s Department has released details on a two car-semi crash on US 50 at Bannister Road Wednesday morning.
Deputies say a car driven by 85-year-old Betty Bumgarner of Roddy Road in Salem turned southbound onto Bannister Road from US 50 and stopped. A car behind her driven by 40-year-old Christifer Tate of East 17th in Centralia turned behind her but had to stop on US 50. His car was struck by a semi on US 50 driven by 36-year-old Steven Douglas of North Carolina. The impact forced the Tate vehicle into the Bumgarner car.
United Medical Response was called to the scene. All three drivers were checked, but they refused treatment.
The crash occurred at 6:27 Wednesday morning. US 50 and Bannister Road were closed to traffic until the wrecked vehicles could be towed.
