A 39-year-old Shobonier man has been arrested and is being held without bond on ten charges related to the alleged kidnapping and sexual assault of a woman last November in Collinsville.
Timothy Dubois, Junior is being held on four Class X charges of aggravated criminal Sexual Assault, two Class X charges of aggravated kidnapping, and four Class Two felony charges of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Judge Neil Schroeder agreed to hold Dubois without bond.
Collinsville Police Lieutenant Mark Kuechle says the arrest follows a relentless pursuit of the suspect that began the day of the incident on November 11th.
Collinsville Police say they responded to the Collinsville Crossing retail complex where they met with a female reporting she had been abducted at knifepoint. The incident reportedly began about 50 minutes earlier when her car was approached while she was waiting for an online order at Starbucks. The alleged victim reported the man displayed a large knife and forced her to drive to the Troy, Illinois area where he sexually assaulted the victim. The suspect then drove the alleged victim back to the Collinsville Crossing retail complex, parked her car, and fled the area on foot. A few minutes later the alleged victim called the police. Other than the obvious trauma caused by a crime of this nature, police report there were no further injuries.
The incident led Collinsville Police to encourage the public to remain vigilant of their surroundings following the apparent random act of violence. They also asked the public for their help in solving the case.
Collinsville Police are thanking multiple police agencies in the St. Louis region, including the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Vandalia Police.
