A 41-year-old Salem man was injured when his SUV was broadsided at the West Main and Hotze Road intersection Tuesday afternoon.

Salem Police say Randall Wolff of Hotze Road was making a left-hand turn from Hotze onto westbound Main Street when he was hit broadside by an SUV driven by 50-year-old Melody Rensing of Clinton Street in Carlyle.

Accident reports indicate Rensing was eastbound on West Main when she ran the stop light at the intersection.   Her SUV continued east eventually entering the westbound lanes when she struck a third SUV driven by 59-year-old Tina Hines of Illinois Street in Salem.   Rensing’s vehicle didn’t stop until it hit a curb for the median divider near the I-57 southbound exit.

Wolff was trapped in his vehicle following a crash until Salem Firemen were able to pop open a door.  He was taken to Salem Township Hospital for treatment.

Rensing and Hines escaped injury.   Rensing was ticketed for disobeying a traffic control device.

The crash occurred at 2:40 Tuesday afternoon.
