Odin Firemen with automatic mutual aid from the Salem Fire Protection District were called to what was believed to be a house fire Wednesday morning in rural Odin.
But Odin Fire Chief Greg Smith says what the fire at Jackson Place and Wortby Street turned out to be was the burning of construction waste outside the home.
Smith says he can understand the mistake as it did appear the smoke was coming from the home.
The fire alarm came just after ten Wednesday morning.
Meanwhile, Salem Firemen say it is not clear what caused two fire alarms to go off at Hawthorn School on Bobcat Circle. The initial alarm indicates two pull station alarms had been pulled, which turned out not to be the case.
