The Salem Economic Development Director Tabatha Meador has announced $60,000 in matching grants will be awarded to businesses in the downtown Tax Increment Financing District this year.
Applications are being accepted through January 27th. The Salem City Council is expected to review and make a decision on which applications to accept at its first meeting in February.
Meador suggested grants be in the area of $10,000 apiece, but she notes that is not cast in stone depending on the need of downtown building owners.
The city set aside $50,000 in matching grants last year with a cap of $10,000 apiece.
Meador reports several downtown building owners have already expressed interest. Others who are interested can contact Meador for more specifics on the grant process.
Facade and structural improvements are among the items eligible.
