The Marion County Sheriff’s Department reports two car-deer crashes Wednesday night and early Thursday morning resulted in airbag deployment and minor injuries.
The first crash occurred on Route 37 South of Salem near CJ Heck Road where a car driven by 74-year-old Robert Holst of Cedar Creek in Centralia struck a deer. He was checked on the scene by United Medical Response and refused hospital treatment. The crash occurred at 8:15 Wednesday night.
The second crash occurred on the 1500 block of Walnut Hill Road in rural Walnut Hill where a car driven by a 17-year-old Centralia male juvenile struck a deer, ran off the left side of the road, crossed the roadside ditch, and came to a stop in the yard of a home. Both the driver and a passenger, a 17-year-old Centralia female juvenile, were checked on the scene by Life Star Ambulance but refused hospital treatment. The crash occurred at 12:45 Thursday morning.
