A 58-year-old Salem woman has been charged in Marion County Court with aggravated battery to a nurse.
Judy Garrett of Maplewood Avenue is accused of scratching the nurse while she was performing her duties in the emergency room where Garrett reportedly had been brought after being revived with NARCAN.
When the charge was being read, Garrett told Judge Mark Stedelin she understood the charge but didn’t remember doing it.
In the probable cause statement, Assistant Marion County State’s Attorney Seth Bauling that Garrett allegedly tried to grab the nurse around the neck when she pulled away but was still scratched.
In asking for a recognizance bond, Public Defender Craig Griffin noted Garrett had no criminal history and likely became violent as a result of being awakened by the NARCAN.
The Judge set the bond at $5,000. Garrett later posted $500 cash and was released from the Marion County Jail.
