A 23-year-oldl Mt. Vernon man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison when entering a guilty plea in Jefferson County Court Tuesday to three Class X felony charges of possession of child pornography of a victim under 13.
Owen Caporgreco was scheduled for arguments on a bond reduction motion when instead he agreed to the plea that saw two other counts of child pornography dropped. He received six years in prison on each of the three charges, with the time to be served consecutively.
The case against Caporgreco followed information developed by the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department later executed a search warrant on his home on South 19th in Mt. Vernon.
As part of the plea, Capogreco will have to register as a sexual predator for life.
